Fikayo Tomori explains what he’s going to learn from Thiago Silva

Fikayo Tomori has ended up staying at Chelsea despite having the chance to leave the club on loan for the season, and one of the main reasons for that is that he wants to learn from Thiago Silva.

The former PSG defender arrived on a free this summer, and while the Brazilian has taken Tomori’s place in many ways, he’s not going to be around forever, and he has a huge amount to teach the players around him too.

The Chelsea official website have some really interesting quotes from the defender where he explains why he outlined what he was hoping to learn from his new teammate over the course of their time together.

“Even though he doesn’t speak a lot of English, you can tell the way he drives himself and those around him on the training pitch and on matchdays.”

“You can see why he’s featured at the levels he has.”

“I can watch what he does and see how professional he is. You always see him in the gym looking after his body and making sure he’s right for the games. What’s he done in the past will transfer to what he does here, and it will help all of us.”

Let’s hope so. The back line looked instantly looked lost without the Brazilian against Southampton, and many were saying it should have been Tomori in the team instead of Andreas Christensen anyway.

Let’s hope that with a little bit more Silva in the team, and a few more chances for Tomori in the lineup, we can get things right and make ourselves into contenders this season.
