Chelsea look even closer to securing yet another summer transfer signing this window.
After already making a host of top class signings this window, Chelsea are close to securing a deal to sign Rennes goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy.
The 28-year old Senegalese international has agreed a 5-year contract to join Chelsea, according to the reliable French Journalist, Mohamed Bouhafsi.
He confirms that the two clubs are in negotiations regarding the initial fee. Chelsea have offered around 20 million euros (£18m), but Rennes are asking for 26 million euros (£23.6m).
It looks likely that a meet in the middle will soon occur.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano expects the deal to be completed soon.
Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Mendy few days ago – new bid expected soon to complete the agreement with Rennes. Deal still expected to be done soon. No chances for Oblak as always said [Atlético will keep him]. 🔵 #CFC #Chelsea #transfers

Meanwhile, Rennes President also confirms the official negotiations, as Romano has tweeted above.
Holveck says “We’ve started official negotiations with Chelsea to sell Edouard Mendy.”
He confirms that Mendy ‘wants to leave’ Rennes but the negotiations are yet to be completed.
This is in line with the above reports, suggesting that everything is now on course for Chelsea to complete the signing of Mendy very soon.
I don’t expect to see drawn out ‘Havertz style’ negotiations with this deal.
