We’ve written a few times already about Chelsea’s interest in Rennes keeper Edouard Mendy, and it’s a link that just won’t go away.
The Blues are looking for a reaosnably priced option to compete with Kepa in goal, and the Frenchman looks to have become one of their prime targets.
There are further encouraging signs that a deal will be done coming out of France today. L’Equipe report that Rennes are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper, with PSG’s backup Alphonse Areola interesting them.
They aren’t the kind of team to lavish big money on a reserve keeper, and this surely indicates that they’re preparing to lose Mendy.
That would add a really solid and experienced goalie to Frank Lampard’s squad, massively strengthening this Blues squad for next season and allowing the scouts to focus finding a top central defender, the last true weak spot left in this suddenly upgraded team.
