PSG want loan while Chelsea push for purchase of suddenly unwanted defender

It’s become clear in the last few days that Antonio Rudiger is no longer needed at Chelsea, and now rumours are picking up pace that he could be on his way sooner rather than later.

The defender wasn’t included in Frank Lampard’s squad on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup, despite a heavily rotated team playing, leading plenty to conclude his days at Chelsea are numbered.

Get French Football News is leading the charge in terms of naming potential destinations, citing reports on RMC that PSG are interested in arranging a loan deal with an option to buy.

Chelsea apparently prefer an outright sale, which is at odds with the Parisian side’s desire for a “low-cost” window, according to GFFN.

If Rudiger really is Frank Lampard’s fifth choice in central defence – as indicated by the fact that Fikayo Tomori came on after Andreas Christensen was sent off against Liverpool – then getting him out on a loan or a sale for this season would be a wise move for the club.
