New Chelsea signing is ‘training with new teammates tomorrow’ and is ‘available’ for Saturday

It looks like Chelsea have been very clever in the capture of new goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

The 28-year old was confirmed as a new Chelsea player this morning after weeks of negotiations and speculation.

The former Rennes stopper would have had to quarantine for 14 days if he had arrived direct from France to the UK.

But it looks as if he has been in Germany for a little while after leaving the Rennes camp, taking his medical in Dusseldorf. In Germany there is no need for travellers to quarantine for 14 days when entering the UK, so Mendy will come straight in and is ‘training with new teammates’ at Chelsea tomorrow, according to The Times reporter Tom Roddy.

He also reports that Mendy is ‘available’ to play against West Brom on Saturday.

It is unlikely that Mendy will start the match so soon off the back of one training session tomorrow, but he may well be included in the squad to give him an early feel of things.
