Lesser-known wonderkid set for loan ahead of schedule

Players who go out on loan from Chelsea’s youth academy are often little stars in their own right.

Either recruited as highly talented kids, or known for goalscoring exploits in the junior ranks, some are household names (at least within groups of passionate Chelsea fans) before they’ve even played a senior game.

Henry Lawrence isn’t that just yet, but he’s going on loan this season to potentially accelerate that process, according to Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com It’s perhaps the fact that he’s a defender that makes it a little more difficult to break into the public consciousness, but he’s clearly not had those issues behind the scenes.

He’s impressed Frank Lampard enough to be fast tracked into first team training (he even appeared on the bench for our final game of the season against Bayern Munich), and he will now head out – possibly to Vitesse Arnhem to join Armando Broja – and show just what he can do.
