Goalkeeper agrees personal terms with Chelsea for 5 year deal

Edouard Mendy has agreed personal terms with Chelsea ahead of a move from Rennes, according to Mohamed Bouhafsi of RMC Sport.

The goalkeeper has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time now, and now it sounds like it’s a done deal, at least in terms of the player’s contract with Chelsea. It will be for 5 years, and Mendy has told Rennes he wants to go.

The fact that he’s not been seen in training for some time indicates he’s probably in isolation ahead of a trip across the Channel to join his new team shortly.

Chelsea still need to agree a fee with Rennes, for the transfer of the player, but given the difference in price being mentioned (Chelsea offering €20m, Rennes wanting €26m), it doesn’t sound like it will take long to sort out.

The most important thing now is getting the deal done so he can start training with the team and hopefully start as soon as possible.
