Frank Lampard turns to Mateo Kovacic for scouting report on Kante replacement

Chelsea have already done so much business in this transfer window that we’re no longer ruling anything out.

After a relatively frugal few years and then a full 12 months out of the market, this summer has seen the Blues splash the cash and pick up quality players from back to front.

This week has seen the suggestion that Marcelo Brozovic, the Inter Milan midfielder, is being considered as a deep lying midfield option to replace N’Golo Kante.

According to 90m, Frank Lampard has gone as far as asking Mateo Kovacic, who already plays for the Blues and knows Brozovic well as international teammates for Croatia, how he might fit in.

If Lampard were to ask us, we would say he’s a good player, but probably not defensive minded enough to bring balance to a hyper attacking midfield featuring Kai Havertz and Mason Mount.

But then again, Frank isn’t asking us…
