Edouard Mendy to Chelsea is ‘imminent’, Blues will pay ’22M €’

Chelsea could finally be close to announcing their 8th summer signing this window.

In a transfer saga that has been long, but still looks short compared to the Kai Havertz pursuit, Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy to Chelsea is now ‘imminent’ with a fee finally agreed between the two clubs.

This is according to Canal Plus Journalist Paul Tchoukriel, who tweeted the latest information from his account this afternoon.

The 28-year old will join the London club for an initial 22 million euros (about £20m), and Chelsea could pay a further 6 million euros (£5.5m) on top in bonuses.

I understand that Mendy has already completed his Chelsea medical, so now that the fee has been agreed, we should here an announcement very soon.

The Senegal international will arrive as direct competition for current number one, Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Spaniard has had a poor run of form for some time now and it is clear that Lampard is not overly confident with him in the sticks.
