However, the pursuit of Rice was and still will be a difficult one to pull off, with West Ham not keen on selling.
But the clubs co-owner David Sullivan has given a very honest and open interview on TalkSport today and his words will give Chelsea a boost in their pursuit of Rice.
As reported by The Evening Standard, Sullivan has admitted to having difficulties signing new players and he might not be able to sign anyone at all this window.

It is clear they are struggling in many aspects especially the financial department, and getting some solid funds in by just selling one player could become a real appeal to them in the latter stages of the window so they could then strengthen by bringing in 2 or 3 players from the Rice money.
