Chelsea ‘pushing’ to sign Declan Rice, says transfer insider

Silly season is still very much in full flow for Chelsea and despite the Premier League returning this weekend, The Blues are still working on a number of potential players sales and arrivals.

They have until the beginning of October to wrap up any more deals and as well as players expected to be departing, Chelsea are still in the hunt for one more major signing.

This is according to TalkSport’s transfer insider, Alex Crook, who was giving some significant updates to Jim White on the show yesterday.

A deal for Chelsea to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice was on the agenda, and Crook has confirmed that The Blues are still ‘pushing’ to sign the England international.

However, he also believes that any deal will be hard to pull off with West Ham’s owners currently in turmoil.

Crook can’t see it happening….. I tend to disagree….

“West Ham can’t sell Declan Rice, cant they?” Said Crook.

“You look at the reaction to the transfer of [Grady] Diangana; if they were to sell another of their perceived crown jewels the fans would be in absolute uproar.

“My understanding is the owners are desperate to keep hold of Declan Rice.

“Chelsea are still pushing in the background, but it would take a massive offer and I don’t see it happening.

“West Ham need players in; I understand David Moyes is potentially looking at Chelsea left-back Emerson, one of a number of players that could leave Stamford Bridge.

“I think if any club is in need of a spark now, something to get the fans excited, it’s West Ham United.”
