Chelsea are three minutes into their preseason, and two of their new signings have already combined to contribute to a goal.
Hakim Ziyech yet a beautiful pass over the top of the Brighton defence to Callum Hudson-Odoi, who had broken free of the retreating defence.
He tried a header at goal which scuffed off his forehead – but it fell perfectly into the path of Timo Werner, whose poaching instincts had carried him into the right place at the right time to tap into the empty goal.
As omens for the season go… does it get any better than that?
