The domestic season is over and Chelsea can now look forward to a long break of several mo- oh no, wait. Football is starting again in just over a month, with September 12th seeing the return of the Premier League.
That’s not far away, and Chelsea manager Frank Lampard thinks his team will need more of a rest.
Of course it’s important to get next season back on track as soon as possible, and the teams had an unexpected holiday this spring, but this does seem like a recipe for disaster.
Squads will once again be stretched to their limits, and while the Blues have plenty of talented young players to use, they have also seen a steady flow of injuries this season which point to the fatigue the squad are feeling.
You can see the Chelsea boss speaking in the clip embedded here:
"The 12th feels too early for me the players need a break."
