Chelsea are prioritising the left back position as an area of urgent improvement this transfer window, and they have been heavily linked to signing Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell.
But according to Sky Sports, the two parties ‘have so far failed to reach a deal’ for the England international with them being ‘poles apart on a valuation.’
However, Leicester have ‘softened their original demands for an £80m transfer fee’ meaning there could still be optimism that a deal can be done here.
Chelsea are stepping up with their plan b though, as per the same report. They have expressed an interest in signing Ajax left back, Nicolas Tagliafico.
The 27-year old is represented as the cheaper option, and he also comes with a lot of domestic and international experience at the age of 27, and being a regular in the Argentinian side.
