Promoted side want Michy Batshuayi, whose window at Chelsea is closed for good

The rumours of Leeds interest in Michy Batshuayi originally popped up a few days ago, but the trickle is now turning into a stream. The Evening Standard are the latest paper to claim that the forward could move to Yorkshire.

The Belgian striker actually had an unexpected chance to finally make an impact at Chelsea last season thanks to the transfer ban. He started as Frank Lampard’s second choice striker behind Tammy Abraham, with Olivier Giroud left out of the squad on occasion.

But after a few disappointing cameos he dropped out of the frame entirely, and we’re now looking to finally move him on for good. The arrival of Timo Werner and the new contract Olivier Giroud signed means that the door is firmly closed on any further Michy chances.

Leeds will certainly be looking for strikers to back up Patrick Bamford after their promotion, and Marcelo Bielsa does know the forward from his brief stint in Marseille. That seems to be enough basis for those writers who dream up these rumours.
