Matthias Ginter has clear message on future after transfer links

Chelsea have been linked with countless players to shore them up on the defensive side of the ball this coming season, and the latest has been Matthias Ginter.

The central defender was one of the youngsters involved in Germany’s 2014 World Cup win, and has since racked up a lot of appearances in the Bundesliga.

Currently 26 and with Borussia Monchengladbach, Ginter looks ready to try his hand at a top club again – but according to him we shouldn’t hold our breath.

The Metro have quotes from him where he makes it clear how content he is staying put:

“I’m definitely staying in Gladbach. Of course I heard of the enquiries and was flattered by this attention.”

On the one hand, players often say things like that then go back on their word – it’s just a matter of keeping fans onside.

Whether he’s the player we need to take our dodgy defence to the next level remains to be seen. He’s got the experience, but it will all depend what our scouts make of him.
