The endless rumours about Ben Chilwell as Chelsea’s summer left back of choice have perhaps allowed other targets to go under the radar.
It’s been a solid year of links connecting the Blues with Leicester starter Chilwell, with figures of £80m+ being mentioned in connection with the England international.
That’s starting to look like a crazy amount of money in the current market, and given how disappointing his form was in the latter half of this season.
Reguilon was more of a sleeper hit, with a mention or two in January, but not much to follow. Suddenly, the internet has erupted with rumours that the Blues have identified him as a cheaper alternative to Chilwell, and ESPN have today added their weight to the discussion, writing that “sources” have told them that Chelsea are favourites to sign him.
Inter Milan and Tottenham are named among the other interested parties, but there is no doubt in their minds that “Chelsea are now favourites” to sign him.
Isn’t it amazing how quickly things can change?
