England’s “Chelsea generation” continues with more U21 call-ups

Following Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham getting the nod from Gareth Southgate and the England senior squad yesterday, Chelsea are celebrating more international recognition today with a number of present and past Blues making it into the U21 squad.

As you can see from the graphic below, current Blues Marc Guehi, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reece James and Conor Gallagher are all there.

Beyond them, there’s also former Blues Rhian Brewster, Jay Dasilva, Eddie Nketiah and Jonathan Panzo.

So a total of 8 out of 23, a quite outrageously high figure and a testament to the incredible work of the academy over the last few years. Let’s not forget Tammy and Mason would be in there too – if they hadn’t already made it to the senior team.

It’s a shame that some of those lads have left, but we’re still delighted to see them thrive, and we love the proof of the quality of our academy that comes from dominating the national team squad like that.
