€25m asking price for Reguilon could put Chelsea in prime position

Sergio Reguilon would probably like to go back to play at Real Madrid – who wouldn’t? Having come through the youth academy there, he would probably relish a shot at the first team.

But given Los Blancos spent big money on Ferland Mendy last summer, and still have Marcelo as an option, the path for Reguilon to break through is totally blocked.

That’s why he went on loan to Sevilla this season, and also why, according to AS, Madrid will listen to offers for him this summer.

They say that it will take €25m to take him off their hands, which is a pretty steep fee. That essentially rules out Sevilla being able to buy him permanently, given they rarely spend sums of that size, and certainly won’t in the current environment.

AS say our remaining competition is Arsenal and Napoli. The Gunners spent on a left back last summer and seem unlikely to do so again. Napoli could be a threat, but given they’re in the Europa League this season, they might struggle to afford him too.

Could the 23 year old just be falling into Chelsea’s lap?
