Chelsea’s injury issues could be more serious than they seem as next season closes in

Under normal circumstances, if a player did their hamstring in an FA Cup final, you’d be gutted, but not too worried about the following season.

This year, everything is different.

Instead of a full summer of rest to allow injured stars to rehabilitate, there’s just a month until the Premier League is back in action.

That means that Cesar Azpilicueta and Christian Pulisic, who were both taken off with hamstring injuries, are now major doubts to be fit for NEXT season, depending on the severity of their injuries.

Pedro, who was stretchered off at the end, is going to Roma, so we’re not missing anything there, as sad as it was to see him go.

The final game of our season – against Bayern Munich next week – is at least effectively a dead rubber after we lost the first leg 3-0 at home, but looking beyond that we might be a little short at the start of next season.

We can at least hope that N’Golo Kante, Billy Gilmour and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are fit by then, but these two look serious doubt now.

It never rains…
