Chelsea’s front 3 transition takes just 12 months with new signings ready to step in

Eden Hazard, Pedro and Willian have, between the 3 of them, made up Chelsea’s options out wide for the best part of 5 years.

Hazard left last summer, Willian and Pedro this time around. In the space of 12 months, the 3 players who have formed the basis of our attack for such a long time have departed.

Under Jose Mourinho, then Antonio Conte, then Maurizio Sarri the three of them were formed the core of an experienced and talented trident that lead us to great success.

They had almost 900 appearances between them, adding hundreds of goals and assists along the way as the creative heart of several editions of the Chelsea team. The move from them to a totally different attacking setup has been rapid, and after so many years of that trio, there’s something odd about so many new faces on the team sheet every week.

Now all three have gone, and the new blood – Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, are stepping in to their shoes.

If those three can go on to have careers like their predecessors, Chelsea are in good hands.
