Chelsea will have to sign before selling Marcos Alonso to Sevilla

This is going to be a short transfer window, with next season starting in just over a month in England and across Europe.

That means clubs will have to rush to get business done, and with both buying and selling teams must get to work straight away to reform their squads.

Chelsea used two left backs over the course of the season – Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri – switching back and forth between the two. That doesn’t reflect well on how either of them played.

Frank Lampard was at the end of his tether with both by the end of the season, and it’s no surprise to see the former being linked with moves away, in this case Estadio Deportivo are reporting Seville want to buy him.

That would be a smart sale, if we can make it happen. But given the limited time left, in the window, the priority is securing a better player to bring in first. The worst case scenario would be selling Alonso, and then getting held to ransom by another team, or even worse – running out of time and not being able to replace him at all.
