Chelsea set to buy 2 of top 66 rated players in Europe this season

The WhoScored “Rating” metric combines everything a player does in a game to give them a simple rating out of 10.

It’s a pretty crude metric, but it gives you a very simple overview of how a player did over the course of the season.

Chelsea’s top ranked player is Willian, who actually has the 50th best average rating of the season in Europe’s top 5 leagues.

But the Blues will be adding two other players in the top 100 to their ranks if Kai Havertz makes it to Stamford Bridge. The Leverkusen midfielder is 66th ranked, while Timo Werner, in an impressive 11th place, is already signed and training with the team.

There is of course no guarantee they will keep up this form next campaign – but the potential is clearly there for that pair to compete with the very best – and potentially help raise their teammates’ performances to similar heights.

Who knows how many we could have up there in a year’s time?
