Chelsea player returns from loan spell, faces uncertain future

Chelsea have made some pretty nightmare signings over recent years, most notably Papy Djilobodji from Nantes will stick in most fans minds.

But unfortunately there has been many more.

Now whilst Davide Zappacosta is not quite the same level as Papy in terms of poor signings, he has certainly had nothing less than a nightmare Chelsea career so far.

But the Italian international is now back at the club after a failed loan spell at Roma due to injury.

Since he hasn’t really played all season, Chelsea now face a real problem to find him a new club, either on loan or permanently.

At 28-years old an injury prone, The Blues have almost definitely lost the £23 million plus add-ons (per Sky sports) that they paid for him back in 2017.

He has zero chance of getting in Frank Lampard’s first team with Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James both ahead of him, and the best Chelsea will hope for is another loan to buy deal.
