Chelsea close and increasingly confident of signing Kai Havertz according to reliable exclusive

Another day and another positive Kai Havertz to Chelsea update.

It feels as if this deal is very close right now, although it might not yet be announced until after Bayer Leverkusen have finished their Europa League campaign.

It looks like it has always been part of the agreement that Havertz will play out the entire season in Germany before he is allowed to leave, and that means Champions League football.

A new update from the reliable Kevin Palmer at Teamtalk claims that Chelsea are now very close to completing the deal to sign Havertz, and they are ‘increasingly confident’ of making that happen.

The deal will be structured meaning a large sum up front and then mainly instalments for the rest.

The fine details of how those payments will be structured and what targets will need to be met have been among the major stumbling blocks in negotiations.

Leverkusen don’t want anything announced until they have finished their Europa League campaign and Chelsea are happy to wait for that.
