£36m valuation could bring long-lost Chelsea target back into the picture

The rumours about who Chelsea want to buy at left back have really revolved around Ben Chilwell for the last year, at least since Frank Lampard’s arrival, with Sergio Reguilon and Nicolas Tagliafico playing a supporting role to the Leicester man.

It’s easy to forget that for about 4 years before that the most commonly linked was Alex Sandro of Juventus. It’s gone quiet on that front in recent times, but the arrival of Andrea Pirlo as manager may have just changed all that.

Corriere Dello Sport today write that the new Juve manager isn’t so keen on the former Porto man, and will at least “think about” any offer around £36m.

If that’s true, it suddenly puts him in a very buyable price bracket for Chelsea. When you’re being quoted £80m for Chilwell, less than half of that on a proven Champions League player starts to look good value.

Could we even persuade them to take Jorginho as part of the deal? Maybe we’re really getting into wishful thinking now…
