Frank Lampard explains two things that will help Chelsea against Norwich – and one thing that won’t

Frank Lampard faces a crunch game against Norwich tonight as Chelsea scramble to secure their place in the Champions League next season.

A humiliating defeat against Sheffield United on Saturday will have hurt him personally, as well as the team’s spirits, and Lampard sounded determined to learn lessons from it in his press conference ahead of tonight’s game.

He was very clear about what can help his players – and one that that proved to be useless in that last match.

You can see the manager speaking in the video embedded here:

He makes his points very clearly, and it’s exactly what you imagine he’s been saying behind the scenes this week:

“It starts with mentality. Attitude and mentality can’t be played down in a team that wants to be successful. It can’t be talent alone.”

That’s just what you’d expect a player of Lampard’s type to say. He was told for his whole career that he was less talented than other players around him, yet his hard work and superb attitude helped him reach levels that others could only dream of.

If he can just get that message across to his players, Chelsea will be ok.
