Frank Lampard attempts to save Chelsea’s season with desperate double sub

Chelsea are 2-0 down to Sheffield United in one of their biggest games of the season, and Frank Lampard has rolled the dice with a double substitution at half time.

It’s a reminder of the game against Leicester, where the Blues boss was forced into a half time triple switch. That eventually led to a tight 1-0 win, but this game will take substantially more than that to recover.

Andreas Christensen has been hauled off after some first half errors, with Antonio Rudiger replacing him. Mason Mount has also been hauled off, with Marcos Alonso coming on, presumably leading to a formation shift.

Of course bringing on Alonso – who has had some poor games recently – is a risk, but he’s also the type of player who can score a goal out of nothing.

And while there’s still an entire half to play, we’re already at the desperation stage. Maybe the Spaniard can save us one more time?
