Chelsea could look to rival Manchester City for centre back who’s fee has just been slashed

All Chelsea’s transfer talk is naturally surrounding Kai Havertz rumours right now.

But Frank Lampard should really be looking to bring in another centre back this summer, as well as the attacking midfielder.

The Blues have been leaking goals all season and it is certainly an area they need to tighten up. They have a lack of leadership and dominance on the pitch, especially at the back, so the opportunity to bring in a player of such calibre should be jumped on by Lampard and co.

According to The Mirror, Manchester City target Kalidou Koulibaly has had his asking price slashed from £80 million to £65 million – presenting a very good deal for an experienced world-class defender.

But City aren’t the only team who have been linked with the Napoli centre back, albeit the only club with strong links in the last few weeks.

As we know in this business though, that means nothing and things can change in an instant. A few sources including the reliable Dean Jones of Bleacher Report, and Italian publication II Mattino, claimed of Chelsea’s interest in Koulibaly back in February this year.

With The Blues needing a centre back this summer, they could look to reignite said interest.
