Chelsea enter the race to sign £45 million 6ft 3in centre back

As we all witnessed once again this week during Chelsea’s 3-2 defeat to West Ham, The Blues are terrible at defending crosses.

Frank Lampard himself has even spoken about the lack of height in his squad and the need to address this in the summer via The Telegraph yesterday.

But it was clear to see that they lack that dominant defender with real aerial ability to attack crosses and organise the back line.

So it is not surprising to see Chelsea ‘enter the race’ to sign 6ft 3in centre back Pau Torres from Villarreal.

This is according to The Daily Mail, who claims that Chelsea have joined a number of top European sides in pursuing the 23-year old Spanish international.

They name Arsenal, Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City as being the clubs Chelsea will have to battle with if they are to sign the defender.

Torres has a £45 million release clause in his contract that has three years left.
