BBC: Chelsea target wants to leave club and will join new team regardless of Champions League

Chelsea have received a major boost this lunchtime in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz.

According to a reliable report from The BBC, Havertz wants to leave Bayer this summer and his new club does not have to be in the Champions League next season.

They claim that the 21-year old is more concerned with a potential new club’s long-term plan, rather than immediate Champions League qualification.

There were some concerns whether Havertz will join Chelsea, who are interested in signing him this summer, if they fail to qualify for Europe’s most prestigious competition this season.

The Blues will still be desperate to qualify though due to the financial rewards that the competition brings with it.

They have a great chance to pull away from both Manchester United and Leicester City if they beat Norwich City in this evening’s Premier League match.

City are already relegated but Chelsea need a big performance tonight after being thrashed by Sheffield United at the weekend.
