Chelsea are very close to pulling off a major coup by signing Timo Werner, just when it seemed certain he would go to Liverpool.
But how did the Blues steal the striker away from the reigning European champions?
According to Jan Fjortoft, who was speaking on ESPN, the reason is simple – “Liverpool waited too long.” While the Reds tried to bargain the German international striker’s fee down, Chelsea just walked to the front of the queue with Werner’s release clause and dropped their bag on the table.
That’s the way to get a deal done.
