Why it is unlikely Willian will sign further extension at Chelsea despite Lampard’s words

Frank Lampard has been full of praise for Chelsea winger Willian.

The veteran has just signed a temporary extension to stay at the club until the end of this season, but he is unlikely to stay beyond that despite Lampard’s latest words.

Lampard has been talking up the Brazilian international, as reported by Goal, but the bottom line is that despite talks that have gone on for months, Willian himself has always reiterated that the the club are offering only a two year extension, and he wants three years – neither looked to be backing down.

As reported by The Daily Mail back in April, Willian pretty much ruled out staying at Chelsea, and it would be difficult to believe that the situation has and will change here.

In fact, you’d be inclined to believe that after these words, Willian has probably already made his mind up and has his sights set on his next club already.

He said:

“I think it will be very difficult for me to renew because Chelsea offered me two years, I asked for three and it ended there, we didn’t talk anymore, we didn’t negotiate anymore.”
