Timo Werner’s Chelsea transfer takes huge step forward with breaking news from top German sources

Just this morning we were writing that, sadly for Chelsea fans, Timo Werner’s move to Liverpool looked like a done deal.

The fact that Jurgen Klopp is in charge of the Reds, and has already apparently spoken to Werner, the fact that Liverpool have good existing relations with RB Leipzig, the fact that the Reds are perhaps the most dominant team in Europe right now – it all added up to make Chelsea look like a distant second place.

But breaking news from “Bild” in Germany today has blown that all out of the water.

If you can’t read that through the paywall, you can see their top football transfer man Christian Falk’s Tweet from this afternoon that confirms the paper have information that Werner “should” sign a contract with Chelsea until 2025, paying €10m a year.

That’s a juicy deal – perhaps that’s what gave us the edge over Liverpool, who already have a number of star players they’ve got to pay for.

There’s a lot more to come on this one, that’s for sure.

“You’ve got so many good young players in NZ, I don’t know how you do it. Actually I do, you’ve got three of the biggest academies in the world: Fiji, Samoa and Tonga.” – Who was taking shots in the rugby world? Find out here.
