Timo Werner could be on more than €192,000 a week as Chelsea use financial muscle to shake off Liverpool interest

Chelsea are in a better position financially than most going into what is going to be a strange summer window, and it looks like they’re going to make it count.

Bild today have dropped some pretty exciting news – Timo Werner is on his way to Chelsea, and Christian Falk even Tweeted some info about his contract.

As you can see, it’s a hefty one. That €10m works out to €192,000 a week, and Falk says it will be even more than that, presumably counting various bonuses and uplifts.

It seemed certain that the German striker would go to Liverpool, but now everything seems to be moving in Chelsea’s favour. Maybe it’s the extra financial muscle we have this summer that’s making the difference?

Liverpool are having to pay big money to their established top level front 3, and are perhaps finding it hard to match these monster terms Chelsea are willing to offer.

There’s still a long way to go and we wouldn’t get too excited just yet, but this deal sounds a lot closer than it did even a few days ago.
