Chelsea look set to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner in the ‘next days’, according to one of the most reliable transfer news reporters in the world, Fabrizio Romano.
Things escalated very fast last night as we heard of Chelsea’s interest in signing the German international.
The night ended in pretty much every single reliable source agreeing that Chelsea were now very close to signing Werner, with Sky Sports saying a deal had been agreed in principle.
Romano was a little coy on the move initially, claiming that Liverpool could still attempt to hijack the move.
But he put that to rest in his final tweet on the situation, and pretty much confirmed that the deal would be done in the next few days.
He also revealed that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard personally spoke to Werner directly, proving what great pulling power the Blues legend has.
Timo Werner is ready to sign his contract as new Chelsea player until June 2025 on next days – paperworks time. Liverpool have not sent any official bid to hijack the move.
Chelsea will pay €55M to RB Leipzig. Timo has already spoken directly with Frank Lampard. 🔵 #CFC

So as Romano says, now it’s time for the paperwork to be completed, and hopefully we can soon see him holding up a Chelsea shirt for real!
