Reliable publication names 8 defenders who could come in and improve Chelsea’s back line

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has a desire to improve his defence, according to The Athletic.

With his current crop of centre back’s not really standing out as top performers so far this season, and Lampard often rotating between his four options after never really deciding on a regular pairing, you would believe that this is an important area to address.

Chelsea have not really been solidly linked with any defenders other than in the left back area as of yet though, but The Athletic have named 8 centre backs who they could make moves for this summer.

They believe Chelsea could look at David Alaba and Jerome Boateng of Bayern Munich, Dayot Upamecano of RB Leipzig, Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli, Nikola Milenkovic of Fiorentina, Milan Skriniar of Inter, Jose Gimenez of Atletico Madrid, and Diego Carlos of Sevilla.

Lampard wants a dominant centre back with good leadership and organisational skill, and a few of these fit that bill.
