Chelsea have agreed with RB Leipzig a deal to sign their German international striker Timo Werner, according to The BBC.
It seemingly appears to be just the formalities to agree now and for Werner to sign the contract in what will be a massive coup for Chelsea.
The fee will likely be confirmed as his £54 million release clause, which is a great deal for a player of his calibre.
Liverpool were the favourites to land the 24-year old for quite sometime now, but they were not keen on paying the fee for a player who would likely be starting on their bench, as per The Athletic.
Whilst Chelsea fans were going wild with their celebrations, Liverpool fans had a massive meltdown on social media as the news filtered through that it looked like they were losing out of one of their most reported high priority signings of the summer.
You can’t help but laugh at some of these!
I've had enough. If we actually don't get Werner because those stingy pricks FSG can't pay £50 mil. There needs to be serious changes. Bought absolutely no one last season. Made the most in revenue and can't spend £50 MIL on one of the best strikers in Europe…

This is a disgrace if Klopp wanted him, he clearly wanted a move to Liverpool and at £53m you’ll never get a chance to sign someone with his record for that price again.

What a great owner Chelsea have. Whilst he’s splashing the cash on @TimoWerner and allowing NHS staff to stay in his hotel free of charge. Our owners can’t afford Werner and try using Furlough to save a few more £
