ES: Leicester lower Chilwell asking price and work on replacement

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has received some good news in his pursuit of Leicester City left back Ben Chilwell.

According to The Evening Standard, Leicester could be forced to lower their asking price for the England left back.

Initially they were looking for a similar fee to the £80 million they got for Harry Maguire from Manchester United last season.

But due to the fact that Chilwell himself wants to move to Chelsea, and factoring in the impact of the coronavirus on the transfer market, Leicester could accept Chelsea’s £50 million valuation of the 23-year old.

As well as this, The Foxes are working on replacements for Chilwell right now in the shape of Southampton left back Ryan Bertrand, who is ironically a former Chelsea player.

This is the closest reliable report we have seen so far that suggests this is a deal that could actually happen now this summer, with Leicester’s acceptance to selling growing.
