Willian could get new lease of life after break says Chelsea favourite

Chelsea winger Willian may come back from this unexpected break better than even, former Chelsea player Pat Nevin has mused in quotes picked up by Goal.com tonight.

The winger cast doubt at some points over whether he would return to play out the rest of this season, given that his contract expires before the earliest possible resumption date of the Premier League, but recently he’s confirmed that he will agree to play, and Nevin reckons he could make a real difference in the final 9 matches of the season:

“I look at someone like Willian and think, at his age and with the miles he has already put on the clock, a prolonged break will have done him the world of good. It might even prolong his and quite a few other careers,” Nevin speculated.

Of course, it won’t be Chelsea benefiting from that extra longevity, as he’s going to be on his bike the moment the final games are played out.

But of all the “miles on the clock” the Brazilian has racked up, the majority have been with Chelsea, and he’s earned the right to move on and finish his career elsewhere – hopefully having delivered Champions League football to Stamford Bridge again with some scintillating final showings.

The Blues are clinging on to 4th by a whisker, and will need all hands on deck to get over the line in what promises to be an eerie end to the season.
