Tiemoue Bakayoko wants return to club who valued him below €25m a year ago

Tiemoue Bakayoko has had such an up and down few years, it’s perhaps no surprise that he’s keen to return to somewhere that he’s already played before.

He spent this season on loan at Monaco, where he had made his breakthrough, and now apparently wants a move back to where he spent last season.

Football Italia cite Tuttosport in saying that the 26 year old, who is under contract with Chelsea until 2022, has “sent out feelers” for a potential return to AC Milan, where he had an (you guessed it) up and down spell, in 2018/2019, impressing in patches but also falling out with then manager Gennarro Gattuso too.

Milan declined to pay the €25m option to purchase the midfielder then, and one can only assume if they buy him now, a year on, their offer will be even lower.

But with just two years left on the Frenchman’s contract, Chelsea don’t have too many options left. They’ve been hoping that his loans of the last two seasons would provide him with the chance to regain some value. It just hasn’t turned out that way.
