Chelsea will welcome their first new signing of the summer on July the 1st after agreeing the deal to sign him back in January.
This is of course Ajax attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech, who has joined Chelsea for £33.3 million signing a 5-year deal, as per Sky Sports.
The excitement has been gathering amongst Chelsea fans ever since the deal was announced, they know first hand the quality of player they are getting having watched him play against Chelsea twice already this season.
Ziyech is an elite talent, there is no doubting that. And for the amount Chelsea have paid, he can only be described as an absolute bargain buy.
But who better to describe exactly what he is like as a player than a man who watched him play week in week out?
Dutch football commentator Jan Roelfs has been speaking on the NOS football podcast (as cited by The Chelsea Chronicle).
Roelfs has compared Ziyech to three absolute footballing legends. He said:
“Ziyech will not be lost in England, he has so much quality.
“When I make a list of Ajax players, I think of Johan Cruyff, Marco van Basten, Dennis Bergkamp and Hakim Ziyech, in that order. I really think he is close to that as a stylist.
“I go to the stadium for someone like Ziyech – that is an important condition for me. There are a few football players like that.”
