Ross Barkley unsure about Newcastle move despite promise of riches

Like almost every other club in world football, Chelsea may not be able to throw around a huge amount of cash this summer. They will certainly look to shed unneeded players if possible, in order to facilitate purchases of their own.

Ross Barkley could be one of those on the way out. Despite featuring fairly often for Frank Lampard’s team this season, the return of Ruben Loftus-Cheek to fitness plus the potential signing of other options in that area means that Barkley could become expendable.

The Telegraph two days ago yesterday carried an exclusive that Newcastle were chasing the former Everton player as part of the potential overhaul of the squad this summer.

But that may prove challenging. Football Insider today claims to have their own exclusive – that Barkley will need some persuading before making the move to the North East.

Of course, the cash that’s about to flood in to the club if the takeover by Saudi Arabian investors (which is now very much in doubt) is completed could be very persuasive.
