Roma and Zappacosta want a second chance at injury-ruined loan

Poor Davide Zappacosta has had a rough time of it.

His loan to Roma this year after a couple of seasons mainly spent on the bench was supposed to given him a chance to play regularly, but a serious knee injury ruled him out for pretty much the whole season.

Now the full back – and Roma – are hoping for a do-over. According to reports in Italy translated by SportWitness, they want Zappacosta back for another year.

It’s hard to imagine Chelsea saying no, in reality. We need him to play and recover some value as much as he does, and another year on the bench for the 27 year old doesn’t help anyone. With Reece James now established, there’s just no need for Zappa anymore.

If Roma agree to the same terms of this year again, we’re confident that the former Torino man can get a second run at things. Perhaps we can even arrange a permanent deal for him to solve everyone’s problems at once.
