Chelsea have confirmed this week that striker Olivier Giroud has extended his stay at the club for another year.

Giroud was close to leaving the club back in January but ended up staying until at least the end of his current deal in June.
But he has now extended for another season and the reasons for this have been revealed by Le10Sport (as cited by The Daily Express).
They claim that both parties are providing cover for themselves for the upcoming year in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
It also does rule out Giroud leaving. As we know he has been desperate for more first team football this season after playing second fiddle to Tammy Abraham at Chelsea.
So if this occurs again and it is likely to, Chelsea could look to sell the French international and get a bit of cash for him at the same time.
It’s a clever move by the club.
