Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois discussed Real Madrid moves while in Chelsea dressing room

The Daily Mail tonight have some rather interesting quotes from Spain, which aren’t likely to endear the ever-unpopular Thibaut Courtois to Chelsea fans.

The Belgian goalkeeper made himself so unpopular by refusing to train in order to force a move to Real Madrid through. That was just a couple of years after the club had sold fan favourite Petr Cech to accommodate Courtois’ arrival.

When Eden Hazard left a year later, there was less bad blood. He had always admitted he wanted to go, he didn’t refuse to play, and we got a big fee for him.

Now, 28 year old Courtois has admitted that he and his countryman actually discussed the move while still together at Chelsea.

“In the Chelsea dressing room, we were talking about the possibility of playing here,” Courtois admitted.

”’The White House, the White House…”, we said. It was nice to speculate about it.”

In reality, you’d be kidding yourself if you thought the two hadn’t discussed it. From the same country, roughly the same age, playing at the same club and both dreaming of a move to Madrid, how could it not come up?

The difference was just how they dealt with their desire. Hazard left a favourite, Courtois is now infamous at Stamford Bridge.
