Chelsea a more realistic bet for Sancho as winger keen on Premier League move

There are many things that remain uncertain in the world of football right now due to the global pandemic.

Nobody knows what kind of financial climate we will see moving forward and clubs transfer business could look a lot different this summer.

We know that Chelsea and Manchester United both want to sign Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, as per multiple reports.

Goal have a fresh report on this, claiming that Sancho wants a move to the Premier League and will refuse to sign a new contract in Germany.

They also say that his club will not offer discount on his £100 million asking price, which would surely price out Manchester United for a move, and possibly Chelsea.

However, there are a few things here that puts Chelsea in a better position.

First of all, United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has already spoken about how the transfer market could look after Covid-19, publicly stating that any £100m deal is unrealistic in the current market.

Secondly, Sancho only has 2 years left on his current deal and if he does not sign a new contract, then every day that passes without Dortmund selling would mean they risk losing him for less and less money. They may rethink their asking price with that in mind.

Finally, Chelsea aren’t one of the clubs with massive financial concerns and are still expected to be active in the transfer market this summer, as per The Telegraph.

Also, it has been reported that Chelsea will look to make one ‘big’ or ‘marquee’ signing this summer, and Sancho could be that guy.
