Chelsea drop interest in Real Madrid right back thanks to Reece James progress

The Bundesliga is back, and with an unusual amount of attention on it, as the only show in town.

Borussia Dortmund have been perhaps the most impressive team in it so far, comfortably winning their matches so far, and with on man in particular impressing.

Achraf Hakimi is into the second year of an exceptional loan to the German side from Real Madrid, and in that time he has established himself as one of football’s most impressive right-backs.

The Metro have previously reported on Chelsea interest in buying him, but today they put a stop to all that by claiming that the progress of Reece James through the season means that the Blues have written off buying Hakimi.

That’s a good thing, in reality. He would fetch quite the sum at this point, and given the ability Reece has, and the popularity the home grown star has with our fans, we wouldn’t want to see other players brought in at great cost to displace him.
