Chelsea chase 10 goal winger from the Championship

A new target has been added to Chelsea’s shortlist for this summer.

The Sun this morning carry reports translated from Le Gazette Du Fenec that claim that the Blues are interested in Said Benrahma, who plays for Brentford in the Championship.

Chelsea are likely to be one of a small number of clubs actually able to spend money in the summer, thanks to their rich owner and the fact they’ve taken in about as money as they’ve spent in the last year or so.

Benrahma would still represent something of a bargain for the Blues, as he’s coming from the Championship, but that doesn’t mean he would come cheap – Brentford are one of the second tier’s richer teams.

The Algeria international scored 10 goals in 34 Championship game this season, and looks too good for that division. Whether that means he’s good enough for Chelsea is another question, but it seems certain he will get a Premier League opportunity somewhere at some point.
