UEFA’s condensed Champions League could see intense return to action

UEFA have a plan to finish off the Champions League in a three week blitz in August.

That’s according to the Daily Mirror, who say that the bosses of the competition are hoping to squeeze the remaining games in the competition in, just in time to start next season’s campaign on time.

It all depends on whether the continent’s domestic league can be restarted and then finished in 6 weeks or so from June, allowing these European games to happen at all. Even if they can, it will be a tight squeeze that pushes the players to their limits physically.

Of course, even if it does happen, it’s hardly going to help Chelsea much. The Blues are 3-0 down from the first leg against Bayern Munich, a game where they looked thoroughly outclasses. A draw in Germany would be a good result at this stage, let alone a 4-0 win.

But regardless of Chelsea’s outcome, we’re all football fans who want to see the best players back in action.
